You can chose which brightness you want and I find a 5 (out of 10) is just pleasant. As someone who hates mornings and has to get up early this is brilliant and starts the day well. You find yourself awake with a soft light on, as opposed to a a jolt of loud noise in the dark. I really like the soft light to wake up to - it works well for me. Nice idea, but the bright time display was the deal breaker for me. Yes Its Philips who think they’re the Apple of home care products, but for the poor design elements of this - and there are a few - it doesn’t justify the premium price. The snooze is very temperamental and you have to fiddle around with the clock so much you’re wide awake by the time you’ve got it snoozing. It should have DABS at the very least for the price. So bright it lights up the room at night, which defeats the purpose of a wake up light. Now the bad: You can not dim the time display. It’s also fairly easy to operate - though the touch buttons can be a bit finicky. The wake up sounds are also good, and they gradually get louder (unlike some of the competitors’ products that gently awaken you with the light then shout at you like something from Animal Farm). I didn't expect it to literally be like a summers morning but I would have thought the light intensity would have been more than just like a bright night light. So overall, 2 stars does what it says on the tin but what it says is misleading and not what you get in reality.įirst the good: it’s VERY bright, but you can adjust the maximum brightness so you don’t have to feel like you’re waking up to a collapsed sun. I get the feeling this alarm clock is great if you're a very light sleeper, or sleep with the clock directly in front of your face. A light that didn't wake me and, even if I put it on a bedside table, wouldn't do anything if I were facing the other way. The description says "The light stimulates you into waking up, exactly as you would on a summer’s morning".The attached picture shows what I got in reality. Now, technically it does what it says - increases light intensity until your wake up time when it reaches peak light intensity and then plays bird sounds. I bought this because I naturally wake up with the sun, and struggle to get up early in winter for work. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2018 Technically does what it says, but the reality is disappointing
